ANOMALI MORALITAS DALAM KEKERASAN ATAS NAMA AGAMA

Abstract

Speaking honestly, in recent times violence in the name of religion is 
seen as being obligatory. The source of the problem is a shallowness of understanding. 
When violence occurs, even though in the name of religion, moral stability is thrown 
into confusion, and can become very fragile. Because, where there is violence, good can 
appear bad, and vice versa. There is a grave risk that an anomaly of this morality is the 
formation of a way of thinking and the creation of an attitude that strange and foolish in 
a social group: others are labelled as pagan, the burning of houses of whorship is 
exemplified, and the followers of another religion are killed or terrorised. This is said to 
be in accord with local wisdom. Public worship of other religion is disrupted and even 
as being a holy act.

Those who have closed minds, who are fanatical anda radical, regarding their 
own religion as being superior to all others, will be also closed to different ways of 
thinking. Ideally, religious people should be able to develop a religious attitude which 
in sincere, which is able to see differences in belief as the most important basis for 
dialogue and cooperation. 
How can violence in the name of religion be minimalised or eliminated? This 
is a niggling question of our time. The most appropriate answer is the formation of a 
character or a new and authentic way of living-out one’s religious beliefs in the heart 
each follower. There are at least two forms of religion which are proposed here, a 
“religion of becoming” and a “ religion of maturity”
